As a design company, MiK Creative currently focuses on residential and light commercial interior spaces, but future plans include forming a black-owned, all-female design build firm, taking on many of the construction tasks rarely performed by women, and especially women of color. One of Kimberly’s goals is to create  tiny homes as affordable housing in underserved communities. She’ll be receiving her NCIDQ Exam certification in October and plans to apprentice while preparing for the construction exam.

Kimberly Coombs is owner of MiK Creative Design, a boutique interior design firm. MiK stands for, Made in Kingston, paying homage to her family and Jamaican heritage. Kimberly has lived in quite a few cities around the country, and currently resides in Raleigh, NC. If asked about her design style, Kimberly would say it’s a product of the cities and cultures she’s had the pleasure of experiencing throughout her career.

After receiving degrees in business administration and interior design Kimberly began working as a Designer for a specialty kitchen and bath showroom.  Shortly thereafter she co-founded her first successful design firm.  It was during that time that  Kimberly focused on expanding her skillset to take on full- scale residential projects.
